Project Overview:
The Chevron-operated Gorgon Project required high-precision fabrication of pre and post-metrology subsea spools to support its subsea infrastructure. Subsea 7 engaged Altrad (formerly AGC) to execute the fabrication work at the Australian Marine Complex (AMC) in Henderson, Western Australia. This project was a critical component of the broader Gorgon development, ensuring efficient transport and deployment of subsea spools to the Gorgon fields.
Scope:
Altrad’s scope of work included:
- Fabrication of post-metrology subsea spools at the AMC quay side facility.
- Quality assurance and testing to meet stringent subsea operational requirements.
- Coordination of loading and transportation of fabricated spools onto barges for delivery to the Gorgon fields west of Barrow Island.
Manning:
- Specialised skills in subsea spool fabrication and offshore assembly
- Approximately 60 personnel employed at the Australian Marine Complex (AMC) quay side facility
Outcomes:
- Successfully fabricated and delivered subsea spools within the six-month project timeline.
- Provided employment opportunities for approximately 60 personnel, supporting local industry development.
- Ensured seamless coordination for transportation and installation of spools in the Gorgon fields.
- Maintained high safety and quality standards throughout the fabrication and delivery process.
- Strengthened Altrad’s reputation as a reliable partner in delivering complex subsea engineering solutions.
