Project Overview
MPK undertook the construction of a new pipeline to connect the Pluto LNG facility with the North West Shelf Project’s Karratha Gas Plant (KGP). This 30-inch, 5 km pipeline, routed along the existing Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline (DBNGP) corridor, facilitates the transfer of treated gas from the Pluto LNG plant to KGP. The interconnection enhances the potential for utilising future excess capacity at KGP, accelerating the development of offshore Pluto gas reserves, and providing opportunities for third-party resource integration.
Altrad (formerly APTS) provided a comprehensive suite of inspection and testing services across multiple scopes of work within the PNI project, including:
- Cleaning, gauging, hydrotesting, and drying of the 30-inch interconnector pipeline.
- Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), flange management, and hydrotesting for the PNI facilities (including the inlet station, meter station, and receiver station).
- Hydrotesting 54 test packs as part of the PNI facilities within the Pluto LNG site.
- Hydrotesting 11 test packs as part of the NEO pipeline within the Karratha Gas Plant (KGP).
Outcomes
- Successfully delivered all scopes of work on schedule.
- Achieved a flawless execution record with zero Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and no incidents, demonstrating exceptional safety and quality performance.
- Supported the client in achieving readiness for start-up (RFSU) with rigorous technical compliance and high operational standards.
- Contributed to the long-term strategic goals of optimising gas transportation infrastructure and capacity utilisation.
